Creating Loving Goals

Students at Padua Academy wanted to strengthen their community, but discovered that they spent most of their effort pursuing typical student goals that didn’t actually help the community. The decided to rewrite these goals to be more community centered to align with love. You can see the transformation below.

Typical Student Goals Loving Lives Goals
Get good grades Measure your skills and growth to learn what fields you can best serve society.
Build a resume Find opportunities to contribute to and serve your community.
Get a great job Work hard to find a job where you can help people and society.
Be the best at what you do Accept and love who you are.
Stand up for your perspective Listen and learn from people with different perspectives.
Make lots of money Make what you need, then share.
Fall in love and live happily ever after Find a partner to share the up and down journey of life.

Six months after introducing these new goals, 52% of students reported a decrease in stress and anxiety and 54% reported an increase in academic performance. Students created the above video to share this new perspective.
